Application for renewal of product authorisation

Product authorisations have an expiry date and as such renewal of a national product authorisation (including by mutual recognition) must be carried out for the product to remain authorised for use in Ireland.

Application for renewal of an authorisation must be made at least 550 days before the expiry of the authorisation by the company or companies. The application shall be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) via the Register for Biocidal Products (R4BP).

Supplementary rules for renewing authorisations that have been subject to mutual recognition are introduced by Commission Delegated Regulation No 492/2014.

If an application for renewal has not been submitted, has been rejected, or additional information requested by the Competent Authority have not been submitted by the applicant in due time, the biocidal product must be revoked from the market and existing stocks are subject to a phase-out period.
