Biocides Legislation (Active Substances)

The ECHA Guidance on biocides legislation describes how to fulfil the information requirements set by the Biocidal Products Regulation, how to perform the required active substance assessments and it also explains the guiding principles for the evaluation of the application by competent authorities.

The guidance is structured in the following way:

• Volume I (Identity, phys-chem properties, methods of analysis)
• Volume II (Efficacy)
• Volume III (Human Health)
• Volume VI (Environment)
• Volume V (specific guidance)

Technical Equivalence and Chemical Similarity

To establish the technical equivalence or the chemical similarity of their active substance companies can ask European Chemical Agency (ECHA) to undertake this evaluation.
